Hawley Lake bike ride

Last night, the Scouts cycled the tracks around Hawley Lake.

We covered nearly 7 miles and learnt about how to ride on mud, sand and gravel. We also talked about the importance of selecting the right gear for stopping, starting and climbing. Going uphill is hard, going uphill in mud is harder.

Well done to Mia who saved her puncture for the last 100 metres!

Half a dozen Scouts stand astride their bikes at the shore of Hawley Lake, beaming at the camera. The sun is just about to set and it's about to get very dark. A muddy track leading to the top of the big hill at Hawley Lake. Two Scouts on bikes race downhill in the darkness, bike lights blazing.
